Americans in the position of (limited) power are monkeys.  I can't remember the last time I saw people treated so poorly.  I had a short connection (which I made only through the goodwill of other non-monkeys, and their letting me cut in uncountable lines) and almost missed my flight to San Diego and the monkeys made all of this more difficult, moving other people's belongings before mine in the security scan and just acting like absolute idiots.  The monkeys throw their own shit and don't think this is weird.  I think it's weird that my dad and i ate at a 'fish grotto' last night that architecturally was a gutted denny's and inside looked like a beach resort somewhere in greece.  The music playing short circuited between christmas songs and top ten hits from my childhood that most people have forgotten i think.  I think reading Baudrillard and flying is one of the greatest things ever.  I'm not reading DFW tho i was at his airport but i am reading another big book by Joshua Cohen called Witz.  Everyone seems to like this book very much.  I have only read 30 pages and it was difficult to concentrate after being in transit for nearly a day but i'm not finding much to take with me.  It was a big risk it being so big and having to carry it through so many freaking security checks and countries and states and i'm sure it will 'pay off' but so far i'm disappointed.  today is mexico and i have learned to hug jet lag and love it like the brother i never had.
